Last year we rode our bikes from Colombo to Jaffna in aid of the Green Memorial Hospital, in Manipay, and dedicated the ride in honour of Pavalan Pathmanathan. This year (2018) too, we wish to make it a tribute ride in honour of our late Manipay Parish player, who incidentally lost his life during a game of cricket.
Arriving in Manipay last year and meeting with Pavalan’s family at the hospital was a truly humbling experience, and one that we will remember for a long time. This year too we will make a donation in honour of our late player and friend.
This time the ride will begin from Colombo on the 28th February and reach Manipay at about 11:00am on Saturday the 3rd March. Please try and be there on the 3rd to show your support for the riders; many events and activities have been organised by the local community.
The main cause of our mission is to restore the Green Memorial Hospital and in so doing bring better medical facilities to the peoples of Manipay. We are all privileged to have the NHS take care of all our medical needs – while in Jaffna the people can’t even get access to a doctor. We want to change this and call on your support to help us raise the needed funds for restoration, staffing and equipment.
Please take a few minutes to read about our cause at ‘ridersforcharity.com’ – and to offer your support. Your contributions are gratefully received and will make a real difference to the people of Manipay.
